Last night we went to downtown Ann Arbor for dinner and a bird talk on the discovery of a new bird species in India.

Dinner was at TK WU a small Chinese restaurant that has been in Ann Arbor since 2003. and is on Liberty. The atmosphere is delightful and the food is quite good. Susan had broccoli in a garlic sauce which is a favorite of hers and she enjoyed it a lot. I had the Szechuan beef which was perfectly spiced. We both had leftovers and the owner made sure that we had extra rice to take with us. I highly recommend that if you’re looking for Chinese food in Ann Arbor you should stop here.
After our early dinner we went to the Ann Arbor main library for a bird talk.

The talk was essentially what went into describing a new species of bird from collecting sightings and vocal recordings to getting DNA without collecting a specimen. There are only 15-20 “known” members of this species, so it is critically endangered. I think that one of the main points was getting the local tribe (the bird is on their property) involved with setting aside a protected area, becoming guides and running a lodge. I’ve seen this type of situation work well in Mexico’s Yucatan.
We also saw several friends.
That’s all for now…
Wonderful evening, thanjs for restaurant recommendation.
