Susan found a trail that she wanted to walk just east of Cedarville, Mackinac County, Michigan. She said it was the Narnia Trail, but when I found it on an map it was called the Bush Bay Trail, Needless to say we went there and it was spectacular.

Susan taking a scenic photo with her pone at the start of the trail.

Some of the rocky slopes near the trail. All of this made for interesting and sometimes slightly difficult walking. And it was all worth it.

We were soon in an area with large boulders covered with mosses, lichens and ferns. This was the first unusual fern that I found – Common Polypody.

Soon we were finding Maidenhair Spleenworts, which is a favorite of mine.

This was a particularly nice Maidenhair Spleenwort.

Next were Fragile (Brittle) Ferns. The one on the left is with a Maidenhair Spleenwort.

AAnd a nice stand of Laurentian Brittle Fern.

Trees growing out of a rock.

Another nice rock facy with tree roots and mosses.

And finally the reason this was called the Narnia Trail. This is the Narnia lamp.

We also found lots of Fringed Polygala.

And of course butterflies. This is a Hoary Elfin.
Tomorrow will be orchids in Mackinac County.
A beautiful journey to Narnia. Thank you for sharing.
