Birds and Butterflies

When the days get warmer there are opportunities to find butterflies as well as birds.

Hairy Woodpeckers have been easy to find recently.

Birds were feeding on the ground the other morning. A Palm Warbler on the left and a Veery on the right.

Whimbrel flying past the point.

Now it was time to head off for butterflies.

Nope, no butterlies here, only low-bush blueberry flowers, which means in another month and a helf there should be blueberries.

Even when looking for butterflies there are still birds. Chestnut-sided Warbler on the left, Solitary Sandpiper on the right.

Here’s one of the many Hoary Elfins that we saw. The small butterfly is about the size of a dime.

Eastern Pine Elfin, always a nice find. We also had Brown Elfins, but I wasn’t able to photograph one.

More later…
