Yesterday was a funny day. Scattered birds throughout the day than a burst of activity in the mid afternoon. The flight, as it was consisted of a variety of raptors, but was dominated by eagles. That was nice since eagles, both bald and golden are some of my favorite birds.

An adult Bald Eagle. We I see Bald Eagles here adults dominated the earlier part of the season along with second year birds. As we pass into late May third and fourth-year birds increase along with first and second-year birds and adults decrease.

April into early May is when you are likely to see Golden Eagles. These birds are heading to northeastern Ontario, Quebec and probably Newfoundland where they nest. This is a second-year bird, they have smaller white-patches than first-year birds. Adults have virtually no white in the wings and less white in the tail.

A Bald Eagle will never have this “bent” wing look.
I’m looking forward to a good migration day when eagles will be mixing in with thousands of buteos and harriers. That should be within the next 8-10 days.
More later…
What a thrill to see these photos, they are such gorgeous birds! Thanks for sharing.
