Whitefish Point, November 2024

Walking along the boardwalk towards the point we found where the waterfowl shack had been moved for the winter. While it is only a few hundred yards from where it was and it was a lot of work to move it is in a safe place for the winter. The “point” has grown some 120Continue reading “Whitefish Point, November 2024”

Watching Tsuchinshan-Atlas

Sunset at Whitefish Point, about an hour before we started looking for the comet. The Moon rose to the east. It was a full Moon, called the hunters Moon. Hopefully, the light from the Moon woul;dn’t hamper our ability to see the comet. Looking WSW we were finally able to see the comet. What aContinue reading “Watching Tsuchinshan-Atlas”

Full Moon at Whitefish Point

This is the Moon setting this morning at Whitefish Point. Since we do not have shades in our bedroom, whenever the Moon is in the western sky it’s like turning on the lights in the middle of the night. That’s why I use a sleep-mask. InContinue reading “Changing weather and a book”

Lots of canning done – tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, green tomato chutney and apple sauce (from apples we got at the Farmers Market). So, it was time to head north As we headed north on I-75 we couldContinue reading “Whitefish Point arrival October”

Whitefish Point – more birds

Everybody gets excited when they see a Spruce Grouse. I understand that, remembering the days before we had our place here. But, in reality they are surprisingly common – if you know where to look. Personally, I get equally excited when I find a Yellow-bellied Sapsucker that I can photograph. Of course this frequently meansContinue reading “Whitefish Point – more birds”

Whitefish Point – September, 2024

The view south-west from the tip of Whitefish Point where we have been for the past week. Evening at the point looking northwest. It’s always fun finding interesting animal tracks. These are bear tracks. The photo on the right has Susan’s foo for some size comparison. Planting day at the habitat restoration site. People, leadContinue reading “Whitefish Point – September, 2024”
