And that’s why I forget to do things. Sometimes cartoons say it better than a human ever could. Now on to nature – An American Kestrel photographed in Washtenaw County, Michigan. American Oystercatcher from Dauphin Island, Alabama. Blue Grosbeak from Washtenaw County, Michigan where they are now nesting. Bohemian Waxwing in CHippewa County, Michigan. BurrowingContinue reading “Birds and more from 2024”

Boxing Day – 2024
Unlike with BC, there is no snow in Eugene, intermittent rain, but no snow. There are lot of yard decorations, including a few that are over the top. Unlike Ann Arbor, there are mountains here. No bright stars or Moon to see. A lot of gifts were exchanged, as I imagine happened everywhere. And forContinue reading “Boxing Day – 2024”
‘Twas the night before Christmas
This is the view north from Alexis & Simon’s place. Sitting and enjoying my morning coffee as I listen to birds Then it was time to head out shopping since Christmas is only two days away. Another mural as we were walking to The Duck Store. Later in the day Alexis brought home treats fromContinue reading “‘Twas the night before Christmas”
Murals and more – Eugene, Oregon
Walking to breakfast on our first day in Oregon I was, as always taken by street art. Not sure what Amadeus is but I liked their window paintings. Murals are always interesting such as this woman. Two more women with bare shoulders, which must be cold at this time of year. A colorful tiger face.Continue reading “Murals and more – Eugene, Oregon”
Flying to Eugene
Leaving Ann Arbor wasn’t all that difficult. The view out the window as our flight was ready to depart at 5PM EST. Leaving this late had it’s issues. One highlight of leaving so late was getting above the clouds and watching a lengthy sunset. I guess that’s the advantage of flying west in the evening.Continue reading “Flying to Eugene”

The return of the Pandemic Doctor, in his own words
It has been nice having some time off. I’ve been able to spend time with old friends who don’t always believe everything that I’ve told the,. But frankly, since the 1300s I’ve seen it all. I guess that it started with the infamous Black Death – bubonic and pneumonic plague. How many people died? I’veContinue reading “The return of the Pandemic Doctor, in his own words”
Drones and who might be wtching you
Recently there has been a lot of news about suspicious drone sightings in the eastern United States. In fact the news seems to have a story two or three times a day. It doesn’t appear to be threatening, but it is interesting. Then this weekend on NPR there was the story about Birds aren’t Real.Continue reading “Drones and who might be wtching you”
Disasters – past, present and future
I have been interested in learning about the Spanish Civil War ever since I first saw Guernica by Pablo Picasso. This painting embodied the horror of war. The town of Guernica was essentially obliterated by German air-strikes as Hitler was supporting Francisco Franco, a fellow fascist in the 1930s. The complexities of the Civil WarContinue reading “Disasters – past, present and future”
Snowy cold walk in Ann Arbor
We walked to where Susan gets her hair cut. There was a fresh inch of snow, the temperature was around 14F and very windy, resulting in a wind chill of -2F. So it was a brisk walk. Apparently not everybody made it through the night. After her haircut we headed over to Cosmos for lunchContinue reading “Snowy cold walk in Ann Arbor”
