Happy Thanksgiving to all of my friends and family in Canada. I can remember so many celebrations when I was young. We’d celebrate Canadian Thanksgiving with friends and family in Canada, then they would celebrate American Thanksgiving with us in Detroit. Since the majority of my friends and all of my family in Canada are Italian it is an especially meaningful day of celebration.

Yesterday morning we met our friend Mike for breakfast in downtown Ann Arbor. Susan and I then walked around downtown stopping at places we didn’t know or hadn’t been to in some time. These are window paintings at Sweetwater. I remember taking a drawing class around 30 years ago and sitting in here drawing with class.

A painting on the wall in the back room at Sweetwater.

Fleetwood Diner, Blimpy Burger & Kosmo three iconic places to eat.

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday, and you got to celebrate twice!!! Heaven!!! Especially Italian. My mother’s family were Italian, so I know what you mean–there is such a long line back of pictures of my grandmother and her sisters cooking and eating with family. It continued all the way down to my mother and me, but now it is not the same anymore. Thanksgiving was the best. My husband and I always go to the FLeetwood, it is his favorite, and he always gets hippie hash. Great photos. It’s good to walk around a place you always knew but haven’t really walked around in a long time; you always find something new or something you didn’t ever know was there. My favorite place was Le Dog on Liberty where you get a hot dog and lobster bisque, an excellent combination! I was very sad when they closed so long ago.
