Moth night in Paradise

Last night we spend over two hours with people who came to see moths. Susan, with some help from me did a presentation until the first moths and other insects started appearing. Amazingly, there were almost no mosquitoes.

There were close to 40 people who attended the event. This included Stacie the first there and the last to leave. We also saw Nora, who was there with her parents. They came last year and Nora became very interested in moths.

I didn’t remember to get photos at light set up until fairly late.

A couple of moths from last night.

And finally, an interesting bug –

A giant water bug which was about two inches long.

All in all, I photographed about 30 moths and 8-10 other insects.

More later…

  1. What fun. Great pictures. I’m glad to see there are still some people in the world who are interested in the natural world. You and Susan deserve much credit in reaching out to teach people; I’m sure they very much appreciate it.
