The garden – June, 2026

Yesterday we had some rain late in the day, which was really good for the garden, which is doing quite well after being neglected for almost three weeks in May.

The bed with zucchini and my figs. All of our bed had flowers as well as vegetables.

The bed bordered by mint (which we cook with, but it’s essentially a weed that’s hard to get rid of) had 12 pepper plants (jalapeños, habanero and serano) as well as eggplants, tomatoes and dill.

One of the beds with tomatoes, basil and garlic (we’ve been eating scapes for a few days). There’s also kale at both ends.

More kale, tomatoes and basil. Way at the back, near the compost are a number of butternut squash plants.

We’ll see how the garden does this year. We also have a lot of thyme, chives, rosemary and cilantro. The oregano escaped years ago and is now scattered in the lawn. Once the garlic is harvested pole beans will go in.

For now that’s what’s going on with the garden.

More later…
