What we did for Birdathon

Martin and I spend almost all of yesterday in the field birding. We started with a brief visit to Lone Pine Road, just south of the Tahquamenon River, then went over to the Pickford Mitigation Ponds, went to the Kirtland’s Warbler nesting area and birded our way back to Whitefish Point alon the Curley Lewis Scenic Byway. We finished the day at the Point. Here’s an example of some of the 102 species of birds that we saw.

Solitary Sandpiper.

Green-winged Teal and Northern Shoveler

Sora

Broad-winged Hawk and Sharp-shinned Hawk

Sharp-tailed Grouse and Ruffed Grouse

Pine Warbler and Northern Waterthrush

Ovenbird and Winter Wren

Kirtland’s Warbler

It was an exhausting but fun day. So today was a day to sleep in and relax.

More later…
