What migrating birds will today offer?

This morning facing north (left) and south (right). It’s quite windy out of the WNW, but otherwise has the makings of a beautiful day.

Yesterday, on the other hand was spectacular.

There were close to 2,000 Sharp-shinned Hawks in the sky as they passed heading north, as well as stopping to hunt. Small birds, like chickadees did not have a good day yesterday. But on a day like this there are always surprises.

A less than great picture of the Northern Crested Caracara that has spent the past two days at Whitefish Point. Will is make an appearance today?

Finally, flowers! The first flowers of trailing arbutus. After the flight stopped, more-or-less we walked to the point.

Sean, Aaron and Susan at the hawk platform.

More later…
