Migration at Whitefish Point

This adult Golden Eagle made two passes towards the point this morning. It never got very high. There was also at least one young Bald Eagle.

The number of Sharp-shinned Hawks increased today. Up until now they’ve been passing in small numbers. I imagine that next week numbers will increase.

Rough-legged Hawks were a bit more numerous today. WHo knows where their numbers will go.

Turkey Vultures landing in a tree near our place, watching Sandhill Cranes pass by.

The same group of cranes passing over me.

Once the cranes passed more vultures landed in the tree.

While today was gray and overcast, at least it was dry. This evening rain will arrive and slow things down for a day or two. Tomorrow we head home to Ann Arbor for a week, then it’s back here for the rest of April.

More later…
