Another stunning sunrise at Whitefish Point. This is the view to the east from the Raptor Roost, where I watch migration at our cabin. It was completely still and 26F. While that sounds cold, it wasn’t. I sat outside listening to the point wake up.

As the sun rose it started lighting trees to the west of the cabin. There are no clouds and the morning is slowly warming.

Flower-wise there aren’t many. So for now I’ll have to enjoy the pussy willows and a witches broom which is due to dwarf mistletoe.

But there are some birds, like this Bohemian Waxwing.
It’s shaping up like the perfect day for some raptor migration. The past few days I’ve been seeing a few Bald Eagles and Turkey Vultures every day. Red-tailed Hawks have been passing at about 20-40 a day.
Mammals have been interesting. Last evening we have some very loud coyotes across Whitefish Point Road to the west. This morning we have a least chipmunk at our feeder. So I guess that it’s spring.
More later when I might get to finally write about hawks.
