Looking for unusual birds

The other day Susan and I went out in search of Dickcissel and Henslow’s Sparrow, which we found along with a lot of other things.

We stopped to look at Turkey Vultures in the road then we saw a doe with three fawns.

We’re used to seeing lots of Northern Mockingbirds when we visit the south, but seeing them in Washtenaw County is always a treat. They nest in small numbers in southern Michigan.

I’ve realized that I frequently ignore photographing common birds or plants. This Field Sparrow is one of those.

Dickcissels are always a treat as they are in southern Michigan for only a few months in the late spring and summer.

We have a favorite site to go to for seeing or at least hearing Henslow’s Sparrow. This one was photographed while it was singing.

More later…
