How does your garden grow?

Our garden in Ann Arbor, Michigan is doing quite well. So far we’ve collected 150-200 garlic scapes, which means that potentially we will have a lot of garlic this year. Herbs are doing well – cilantro has started flowering, parsley is turning into a small bush. Chives, rosemary, dill and thyme are all waiting for used in the kitchen when needed and basil is growing in the tomato beds.

Succhini is flowering and staring to fruit.

First jalapeños are here and all of the pepper plants are flowering.

Tomato beds are doing well, plants are getting bigger, flowering and starting to fruit.

The first tomatoes!

  1. My flat of herbs wilted when we had 2-3 hot days at the end of May, but I got some new ones. The Cilantro and parsley and dill are good, the basil is wilting. Must water more rigorously. Tomatoes need too much water so I just buy them from our local farmers–very delicious. On the land, my father always had a vegetable garden, and his zucchini plants were so big we called them “E.T.” plants! Your zucchini photos made me think of that.
