Susan and I returned to the typical wildlife drive at Lake Apopka and weren’t disappointed.

Wading birds were quite plentiful along the drive. We had great looks at all of them. Two of my favorites were Glossy Ibis (left) and immature Little Blue Heron (right).

There was a great Blue Heron nest where we stopped for lunch.

A turtle species that we had never seen before was a rescue as it was slowly crossing the road. This is a Striped Mud Turtle.

This turtle was beyond rescuing, as soon after I took this photo the alligator swam off into the water.

Black-bellied Whistling-Ducks were quite common, sometimes in large numbers.

Fulvous Whistling-Ducks were less common but we still had them at three spots.

Common Coots (right) and Fulvous Whistling-Ducks (right).

My camera isn’t very good with flying birds so I was quite pleased with this Northern Harrier female as we were leaving.
More tomorrow…
Fantastic sightings! they are just glorious! thank you.
