On our way to Petosky we needed to stop for lunch. Since our favorite lunch stop, Wholesome Dine or Dash in Waters was closed we decided to go to our second most favorite lunch spot – Alpine Tavern and Eatery in Gaylord. I had the beef barley soup and a salad which was quite nice. Susan had a fish sandwich which she also liked.
Then we continued north to Petosky where we were seeing Mike and Deb. We stopped downtown so that Susan could go to the watch shop to get a new watch band and battery.

The view of the bay from the watch shop.
The next day we headed north to Whitefish Point.

We crossed north in very light snow and the straights were completely iced in.

It appears to have snowed a bit since we were last here. There’s several feet on the deck and a good 8-10 inches on the bird feeder.

A nice afternoon walk to the point where there’s a lot of snow.

We managed to get to the Shipwreck Museum overlook at Lake Superior which had about four feet of snow covering most of the area.

That’s Susan looking out to Canada.

Here I am with a mound of about seven feet of snow behind me. No walking to the point today.
This morning as I am writing it’s 24F outside and a toasty 69F in the cabin – the joy of having a fireplace.
More later…
Great photos. Ill keep a list of your recommended eating spots in case I ever am up that way! Winter is very serious there.
