Eugene: Day-1

Yesterday I managed to sleep in until almost 7:30 am PST. Then we had a full day. We spent the morning at the Holiday Market where we saw a lost of arts and crafts. We got a few things, but we were in no rush since we can still go there on Tuesday and Wednesday. We did, however have lunch. Susan had an Afghani vegetarian dish and I had a chicken enchilada plate. Both were quite nice. When we got home Susan, Alexis and the kids went to see the opera Peter Pan. I caught up on getting some rest. Alexis and I walked to the Friendly Street Market to get stuff for dinner. And after dinner I continued a family tradition going back some 30 years.

I read the first two chapters of Another Fine Myth to Camilla and Oscar. I read this series to Alexis when she was around Camillas age. Then reread them to her and my nephew Nick Simmons one Thanksgiving when he spent a week with us.

It was nice bringing back old memories and creating new ones.

Now, we’ll see what today brings as I think there is some major grocery shopping planned for the day.

Until tomorrow…

  1. I have never heard of that story before. It is good to get the grandkids in the tradition, or else it will get lost. Very satisfying. It looks scary but I hope they enjoyed it! Whenever I think of Oregon, I think of huge open air markets like in Portland, and it seems Eugene is exactly like that too! And it is the season for food, food, food after all, so enjoy!
