End of the Fall Waterfowl count at Whitefish Point

Saturday was the end of the Fall, 2025 waterfowl count at Whitefish Point. The morning started with the point being quite wet and the route to move the shack to a safer spot for the winter was covered wih a foot of water. This would have been a problem if the wind hadn’t changed to the northwest and blew at almost gale force. So here’s how it went.

Tipping the shack onto the wheels that we added.

Here it is almost down. There were eight of us working on moving the small building.

Got it moved across the rocky beach and onto the boardwalk.

Raising the shack at it’s winter home.

And up it goes.

Sitting at its winter home behind the moving crew – Kurt, Frank, Lynn, me, Jim, Clay, John and Max.

All of the photos were taken by Susan –

Here’s Susan get up into a jack pine to get a better view of the moving at the winter home.

More later…
