We Drove from Dawson City into Alaska today. Another interesting day.

It wasn’t a long day, but it was fun. This was the day that I started coughing and running a low-grade fever.

Short-eared Owls became a daily bird from today on.

The border crossing at the Yukon – Alaska border. We got there right after it opened at 9 AM local time.

And then we were in Alaska.

Obviously we stopped for birds at this wayside stop, but in reality we could stop anywhere on the road.

Susan photographing plants.

The plants were more louseworts.

It was nice having the common thrush being Gray-cheeked Thrush. Not often that we can hear so many singing in Michigan.

It was also fun being in the breeding range of Redpolls.

The ferry across the Yukon River back to Dawson City.
More tomorrow…
Birds of the North are so exotic, even short eared owls, which I first saw in the 1990’s each sunset in Feb. at Jake’s Landing, Cape May along with rough-legged hawks. What a sight they were. I love your picture of one. Thank you, Mary Ann Hitt
