Traveling in the South – birds and more

Boat-tailed Grackles are now an everyday sighting.

Having seen our first Eurasian Collared Dove of the trip, these are now being seen daily.

I wish that we were seeing Loggerhead Shrikes daily, but these are rather sporadic, unlike many years ago.

An American Widgen is always a treat.

Reddish Egrets are one of my favorite waders.

This Green Heron is striking a pose just demanding to be photographed.

A Florida Scrub Jay sitting in some shade on a warm afternoon.

This photo was pushing my cameras ability – but here are seven of the eight American Flamingoes that we saw today.

Chasing butterflies in Florida is a lot of fun. Unless your not careful.

This large Eastern diamond-backed rattlesnake let me know with certainty that I was trespassing. And with a racing heart I took its warning seriously.

So ended the day.
