The end of November

We had dinner at Amadeus an Eastern European restaurant that features some wonderful Polish food. We’ve been eating here for over twenty years. It was our Thursday night retreat when we were both teaching. We would have a long leisurely meal as my week would be over but Susan would have a final Friday of teaching.

The various little pieces of art scattered around the restaurant haven’t change over the years. We even have one of their carved Hoopoes at home.

But the reason we were here tonight wasn’t to destress, but rather to celebrate Susan’s birthday. Over the years when we are in Ann Arbor we each pick a place to go to for dinner. This year Susan chose Amadeus. We had all of our favorite dishes – dill pickled soup, a smoked salmon potato cake and Viennese pork cutlet. Then we had a delightful dessert.

After dinner we went to Literati and People’s Food Co-op before heading home.

Then the nest day we watched the UM-OSU football game, with little hope of seeing the Wolverines win. Well, we were pleasantly surprised with the outcome. Especially since in was Susan’s birthday weekend!
