Whitefish Point, November 2024

Walking along the boardwalk towards the point we found where the waterfowl shack had been moved for the winter.

While it is only a few hundred yards from where it was and it was a lot of work to move it is in a safe place for the winter.

The “point” has grown some 120 feet from when it was last November. In the summer it was closer to 160 feet. So we’ll see what it looks like in December and early next year.

Some of the small jack pines that Susan planted in the restoration area. Susan has now put in over 100 hours of work on this 1/3 acre restoration.

Much to our pleasant surprise there was a Northern Shrike hunting the restoration site. This was a quick picture with my phone.

Here’s a better photo.

Back at the beach the wind creates wonderful patterns in the sand.

The beach on a very windy day was down to 90 feet from where the storm last year wash everything away.

Evening Grosbeaks above the feeders behind what had been the “Owl’s Roost.”
