
Most comics have something to do with the events and remembering WWI and WWII.

Obviously, Arlo & Janis have covered the day many times.

I learned about Armistice Day as a young child. And at some point I learned about Remembrance Day as it’s called in Canada and other members of the British Commonwealth. Then at some point (apparently 1954-5) it became Veterans Day in the United States.

It was in elementary school that I learned the above poem which has resulted in the sale of poppies to commenerate the day.

Reading about John McCrae is important since this Canadian doctor died a few months before WWI ended.

My Uncle Fil DeFrancis in the Black Watch before heading off to Europe when the war ended for him at Dieppe. He spent the rest of the war as a German POW.

My father Edward Kielb (#8 at the tail of the howitzer) in the South Pacific where he saw a lot of serious action.
