Danny Jansen managed to do something that has never been seen before in major league baseball in August, 2024. This game between Toronto and Boston started in June. The game was suspended due to weather and resumed in August. Jansen was the starting catcher for Toronto in June. Shortly after the suspended game he was traded to Boston. When the suspended game resumed in August he was the catcher for Boston. At that time he became the only player to every play for both teams in the same game. An interesting, fun situation.

This is Tsutomu Yamaguchi. He died at the age of 93 in 2010. He was one of the 160 or so people who was at both Hiroshima and Nagasaki for the atomic bombings in World War II. He was an engineer and in Hiroshima on business when the US dropped the atomic bomb there. He returned home to Nagasaki and was there when the US bombed the city with another atomic bomb. Talk about a bad week.
More tomorrow…
And yet Yamaguchi lived to be 93? Talk about having good genes!
