The Roma tomatoes are starting to ripen. The first few went in to sandwiches. But now there are enough for making sauce.

As is typical the herbs are doing well. It’s nice when you can walk outside and find what you need for a recipe in the garden. Pretty much what we have is thyme, rosemary, chives, dill and mint.

The pepper plants, which are mainly jalapeños and other types of hot peppers are doing well.

We keep cutting back the basil, but always have enough for salads and other dishes. We have enough pesto in the freezer to last us until next summer.

Daily we’re getting a bowl of cherry tomatoes. These will go into salads, for snacking and baking.

One of my favorite parts of late summer is when the green beans start producing enough for a meals a day and more. This is where we are right now, so I envision some canned green beans in the future.
That’s all for now, more later…
Great minds think alike. I have the same herbs as you: basil, chive, mint, rosemary and thyme… the chipmunk ate all the dill (go figure he’d like THAT herb over the others.) My bell peppers are doing well in a container against the house. I had to give up my veggie garden because the deer, raccoons, groundhogs and all were eating them. It wasn’t worth the investment of time and money any more. And I don’t live in the countryside, just behind the Stone School on the SE side off Packard.
