It’s always fun to walk down and through town early in the morning, especially during Art Fair. We were headed to Avalon for breakfast so were winding our way through closed booths before 8 AM.

Wow, this is the 55th Summer Art Fair. I remember coming here in 1969. I’ll still have a belt that I got at the fair. I wonder if it still fits?

Susan looking at art before getting a tea towel.

Stained and painted glass. There were even some mushrooms (which become a bit of a theme later).

I really liked this artists work.

We visited this booth and read about art and writing by people in prison. It was really a powerful exhibit. I ended up with a copy of the book that they produced.

As we approached lunch the fair became more and more crowded. There were artists from nearly state (I sure that we missed some), and several countries. Far less that 1% of the people were masked, and no artists that we saw were. This might prove interesting with COVID in a week or two.

Travelers in a large mushroom forest. Our grandson Oscar has us looking more closely at mushrooms – therefore the mushroom theme.

Mushrooms, lichens, invertebrates – what’s not to like about this. Checking on the artists website this sold.

And finally, an insect that we typically see at Art Fair – a cicada-killer. This large wasp (over 25mm/1 inch) paralyzes cicadas and lays eggs on them before placing them into a nest. Considering their size they are perhaps the most docile wasp that I know.
