A busy day

Our day started with finishing what we needed to in the garden. There are 46 tomato plants (various cherry, roma and beef beef), 27 hot peppers (9 varieties), 15 basil and a new rosemary. Hopefully they will all make it until we’re home later in the month.

On our way north we stopped just east of Grayling to check on a Kirtland’s Warbler site that was burned last year. There’s a lor of bird’s-foot violet and sweet-fern.

we found a little patch of blue toadflax.

Eastern tent caterpillars were tenting on most, if not all of the cherries.

We got to Whitefish Point in time to get good looks at a female Great-tailed Grackle. This is a first state record for the species.

Also caught up with lots of friends. Gary, Dan, Skye and Louie were all there.

Got some nice photos of a close Common Loon.

In the evening we had a wonderful sunset. The perfect ending to a great day.

More tomnorrow…
