What happened to the point at Whitefish Point?

We’re settled in at the cabin. where it’s toasty warm Outside it’s very winds, 34F with some light snow.

Susan in her happy place, leaving the cabin to walk to the point.

A bit of clearing to the south.

A photo at the kiosk that Seney erected at the boardwalk leading out to the point. This shows the ever changing shape of “the point.”

Walking to the point it is obvious that the waterfowl “shack” is missing.

The reality is that the entire point is missing. Some 300 yards of sand and cobble is gone, reclaimed by Lake Superior in a late November storm. The point is back to where it was in 1998.

Looking west everything appears normal, unlike looking east.

There’s enough wind and wave activity on Lake Superior to put six (or more) freighters into the bay not wanting to risk venturing out onto Lake Superior.

Two of the freighters closest to the Point.

More later…
