Oacaxan meals

My typical breakfast in Oaxaca. Lots of fruit, pan dulce, orange juice and black coffee.

Breakfast at the Hotel in Oaxaca City.

Our lunch at Restaurante Calibre started with two salsas, bread and cheese. We all tried the hot chocolate, I had mine with water.

One evening in Oaxaca City we went to a taco restaurant.

I had the five beef taco plate and a margarita.

We celebrated Mike’s birthday, which was fun.

The restaurant that we had lunch in Santa Maria de Tule.

Another excellent meal, cooked on a wood stove. Lots of salsas and things to try.

At the Mezcal Benevá Restaurante where the tamales were sadly better than the mezcal.

I tried four mezcals here and was impressed with none of them.

This is where we had lunch at the coffee finca. We also got to see there the coffee was roasted.

Here there mezcal was excellent! I might have had a bit too much for lunch, but enjoyed it.

One of the few meals where I had beans and rice. There were tomatoes, lettuce and avocado, perhaps some chayote, tortillas and some thinly sliced beef.

While on the coast we ate dinner at a Mexican-Thai fusion restaurant. I had a green curry chicken dish that was excellent.

Our last night at the gourmet Tierra del Sol. What an amazing evening.

My tortillas were filled with beef, cheese and black beans, then folded and pan fried. The greens on the plant were not edible, I know because I tried to eat them. There were a few radishes and the green chili was spicy but quite nice.

Mike and I shared a desert which was a piece of cake, with chocolate frosting and lots of fruit.

Tomorrow, back to being in Michigan.
