Oaxaca, Wind farms and an interesting Hotel

As we approached the Isthmus of Tehuantepec we drove through an immense wind farm. In this photo, which I took from our moving van, there are around 100 wind mills, the other side of the road had an equal number. So, 200 wind mills, not too bad. Well, we drove through this wind farm for 15-20 minutes. There were tens of thousands of wind wills at the narrowest point in Mexico which is a major migrant flyway. How will this affect bird numbers – who knows? But it will.

Hotel Villablanca was where we stayed in Tehuantepec. It was a charming hotel that took care of all of our needs – breakfast, lunch and dinner.

This was a poster from the bar.

Skeletons and El dia de los muertos themed stuff always gets my attention.

But what really got Mike and my attention during siesta on the day we had our pelagic was the pool table in the bar.

Well, we took advantage of siesta and spent an hour or so shooting pool. This was something that I hadn’t done in years. And even with a somewhat crooked table it was a lot of fun.

More tomorrow…

  1. This has nothing to do with today’s posting, but it has to do with bird-watching, so… “The space likely will prove popular with bird-watching fanatics, he said.” That’s a place now open after 100 years up near Saginaw. https://www.mlive.com/news/saginaw-bay-city/2023/09/new-334-acre-park-to-offer-michigan-fall-color-spectacle-official-predicts.html?utm_source=Sailthru&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Newsletter_morning_briefing%202023-09-06&utm_term=Newsletter_morning_briefing
