We had lunch in the town of Santa Maria de Tule. I really liked the mural of Frida Kahlo.

Here’s the kitchen when the food was prepared over wood stoves. Then we headed off to see the biggest tree in Mexico.

Here is the Montezuma cyprus that has the largest diameter (11.2 m; 37.5 ft) of any tree in the world. The tree is estimated to be close to 2,000 years old.

Pat and Mike help to give some perspective to the size. While the tree is only 170 feet tall it was still massive.

Nearby there was a Slate-throated Redstart.

On our way out we found a Mexican Yellow.
From here we headed out to Benito Juarez Forest in search of more birds. But that’s for tomorrow.
That’s some tree! Very impressive.
