Once again our day started early as we headed up into the mountains.

Heading out for the days sightings.

One of the great joys of birding in Mexico is being able to see a lot of cacti. This is a velvet bur cactus.

A western rhinoceros beetle. One of the larger beetles that we found during the time in Mexico.

Butterfly action always picked up as the temperature started to rise. The one in the middle is a marine blue flanked by two different dainty sulphurs.

This neat little moth, Pyrausta augustalis flew by me and landed on the underside of a large Acacia pod. I slowly turned it over and quickly photographed it.

A wonderful large skipper, the white-striped longtail.

Yes, there were birds. This is a Bridled Sparrow.

This is a male Blue Grosbeak. This species now nests as far north as Washtenaw County, Michigan. Yes, that’s due to global climate change.
Tomorrow lunch and a really big tree.
Nice rhino… I’m waiting for the Mezcal reports …
