Went down to campus today for some shopping. Meandered a bit waiting for Ulrich’s to open. Back in the late 1990s I had an office in the Dana Building.

Then we went down to the Museum. This is a photo of the old museum building. For a couple of years I had office space in the Odonata Range in the Insect Division where I had the pleasure of working on the massive collection of dragonflies and damselflies.

After years we finally visited the new museum. I wanted to visit the dinosaurs before taking Oscar and Camilla there later this month.

This greeted us as we walked in.

A Woolly mammoth jaw and tooth.

Ancient whales might excite Oscar, especially after seeing some of the fossils that I have, including some massive whale vertebrae.

But I know that the dinosaur fossils will excite him.

This “human” family tree was for me. It reminded me of my anthropology roots in the 1970s, and teaching evolution.

A massive pterosaur will excite the kids.

This Dido bill and illustration is just too cool not to spend some time with.

And finally an ichthyosaur which reminded me of the one on display in one of the first large lecture halls I had the pleasure of teaching in.

By the time we were done shopping, after visiting the museum it was time for lunch. So we headed off the a new dining experience, which was excellent.

Heading towards the bus that would take us home we heard live music and spend 30-45 minutes at the Thursday Sonic Lunch performance at Liberty Plaza. This happens every Thursday at 11:30.
More tomorrow…
