
Mike and I went to Pt. Mouillee today looking for a Common Redshank, a Eurasian shorebird that was found yesterday.

We met others and scanned the mudflats, without luck.

There were a lot of shorebirds and Caspian Terns.

We watched Greater and Lesser Yellowlegs, both species in the same genus (Tringa) as our target.

So, I guess the highlight for me was seeing a Black-necked Stilt. Apparently there are two pairs nesting further out than we went.
Our visit was stopped short by thunder. The dykes here are not a place you want to be when there is lightening, since you are the tallest thing on the dykes.
