Traveling and thinking about family

Today we drove from Whitefish Point to Ann Arbor. It was hard to leave as the morning was filled with birds. But we have to get the garden planted.

On the way I was thinking about my cousin Carol who had wanted some information on our family in Teramo, Italy. So I thought why not share this with the rest of the world since I haven’t written anything about genealogy in quite awhile.

My great-grandparents (Davide DiFrancesco and Irena Cordone) were from Teramo, Italy. She was from the town of Teramo and he was from the small village of Villa Gesso.

This is Davide DiFrancesco’s birth certificate from 1881.

Davide and Irena were married in New Jersey in 1906.

This is the ship manifest from the arrival at Ellis Island. Davide is highlighted in yellow.

This is the death certificate of Lucia Lucidoni, Davide’s grandmother (1802-1877)

These are Irena’s parents – Carolina DiGiandomenico and Giuseppe Cordone. These photos were my grandmothers.

I still have a lot of work to do on this part of the family and will get back to it some day.

More later…

  1. I barely knew my maternal grandmother, Irina. She died just before my sixth birthday. But my mother brought her to vivid life in the many, many stories she told me about her and her life with my namesake. In this photo, I see such a family resemblance. Thanks again.

  2. Unusual that you should publish this today. Just got back my preliminary Y chromasone data from my DNA test. Mid ancient data pegs my fathers side in Denmark 1,700 years ago, and ancient in northeast Camaroon 36,000 years ago! Plus some Chinese thrown in there?!
