Friday Funnies – back by popular demand

Since quite a number of people who follow me on FaceBook had commented on missing the daily funny pages, I thought that I would try having a Friday funny pages weekly collection of cartoons and humor that I scoured from the Internet over time. So – here we go.

Susan and I have followed Arlo and Janice since the 1980s. We always thought that Jimmy Johnson was spying on us since so many of his comics strips seemed to be targeted directly at us, with the exception that they had a son, and we had a daughter.

Three things appeal to be about the about two cartoons. One, there are birds. Two, the birds are vultures. Three, I really like Bizaro comics and the hidden images. An issue that I have with cartoons that use vultures, is that they are always Old World Vultures – specifically Griffon Vultures. I can no longer look at Old World Vultures the same way. Even when I draw them –

I also like humor that requires some knowledge to rally comprehend fully.

Gary Larson and his cartoon The Far Side always seemed to catch the essence of animals in a very humorous way.

And finally for those of you who like music.

More later, after I do my art post for the day.

  1. Alas, I have found that most people I am Facebook friends with do not get my love of traditional newspaper style cartoons and my serious side. So I too have stopped posting my daily read. Perhaps you have found the correct method for sharing them, in a slightly analytical way?

I certainly hope so, since it is the little chuckle I get in the morning that braces me for all of the serious reading that comes after it in the morning. The whole Yin Yang thing.

  2. You are not alone. Others have commented on the lack of humor. I’m just trying to have as little presence on FB as possible. Hmm, “A morning chuckle” perhaps 2-3 humorous items a day. I do have a large file filled with newspaper-like cartoons.
