Traveling in the South – Dauphin Island plants and birds

Finding interesting plants, especially fragrant ones is always fun. This is wisteria, an non-native vining shrub. The flowers are attractive and hava an amazing scent. Day-31: Carnivorous plant bog

Heading north from Dauphin Island Susan found a nice preserve for us to visit. I was all in especially after hearing it had a lot of different pitcher plants. As it turns out it has 10 species of carnivorous plants! Day-26: Getting to Dauphin Island, Alabama

We got to Fort Morgan, Alabama in time for the 10:15 AM CDT ferry to Dauphin Island. The cost ($27 for two people in a car) was well worth avoiding the two and a half hour drive around Mobile Bay.
