Alabama, so far it’s all about insects – in a good way

Susan has set up the lights and sheetnfor insects several nights since we’ve been in Alabama and we’ve had some interesting results.

Here’s an interesting beetle that stopped by for a visit. So far we have got it down to a genus – more on that later. But those antennae are amazing.

Here’s one of the Green mantisflies that we had one evening. Yes, Green mantisfly is the actual name. This is a mantis-like predator that is the size of a fly.

Our first sphinx moth of the trip a Lettered sphinx.

This Hebrew moth was a nice visitor.

It wasn’t a surprise getting a pine borer since we were in a pine forest. This is a Lesser pine borer.

We had this American snout, a butterfly at Shell Mound on Dauphin Island.

Now, let’s see what today brings.
