On the first page of the deed to may parents home on Lockwood in Detroit I found some interesting information.
From 1808: “…the survey of Prairie Ronde from the Detroit River to the Michigan-Chicago Road (which become Michigan Avenue) and the land owned by Joseph Livernois west (the person for whom Livernois Avenue was named).”
Later (during the 1800s) in this long document it mentions the blacksmith shop at 157 31st, which became 157 Lockwood, and finally 3500 Lockwood. This explains why unlike everybody else who had garages, we had a three-story barn with stables, or horse stalls with troughs.
All of this part of history and my past.
