In another week I will be heading to the Pantanal, Brazil. I have all the vaccinations that I will need. Actually I’ve had them for years since I traveled to Panama. The main ones for that trip were Hepatitis-A & B, as well as Yellow Fever. So I am not worried about those. What does bother me a bit is the thought of denue fever (as the result of mosquitoes) and sloth fever/oropouche virus (as the result of biting midges). But since both are beyond my control I’m not going to get stressed.
The situation with viruses and vaccinations in the US is in complete flux with the fascists controlling the CDC currently. My typical approach to something like this is to go to political cartoons, so I will.
Florida will be the next big viral disease disaster. More on that in the future.
Interestingly, as a child I can remember seeing medicinal leeches in drug stores in the Polish neighborhood where I lived.
