I’m sitting here at Whitefish Point watching the morning light as the sun is rising. It’s warmer that the past few days. Yesterday we saw a few Black-throated Green Warblers and a lot of Yellow-rumped (Myrtle) Warblers, but otherwise migration has been somewhat slow. As a result I have been thinking about other things.

The current state of the US is a total mess and this graphic describes it perfectly.

“The Universe was in turmoil,” perhaps we need more dogs like Snoopy.
I just finished another Christopher Moore book that I had resisted reading because vampire stories just don’t do it for me. But I was terribly mistaked in this case.

Bloodsucking Fiends is indeed a love story. It takes place in San Francisco and the opening involves the Emperor of San Francisco and his two dogs. For the start it accelerates to an unexpected climax. The two main characters are Tommy and Jody, he’s an aspiring writer and she’s just recently become a vampire. They’re an unlikely couple a but ultimately fall in live and make it all work.
Unfortunately, I didn’t brink the next two volumes in this series so I’ll have to wait until I’m back in Ann Arbor before I start the next one.
More later…
Brilliant graph– that and the ART posters on telephone poles in AA certainly say it all. And yes we certainly need more Snoopys!! (You and that Christopher Moore!) Mary Ann Hitt Hope you see more migrants; I expect the hawk watch at WPBO is geering up. That hawkwatch is one of my favorite sites in the world.
