Anima Rising

Well, another Christopher Moore book arrived and has been read. And as withh all of his books it was entertaining and funny (sometimes).

Moore has the ability to interweave history and fiction successfully. In this book there are the many historical figures such as Gustav Klimt, Egon Schiele, Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung among others (including a cameo by Adolf Hitler). Klimt’s models Wally and Ella play important roles as well.

Many of the historical figures deeds and acts are based on history. Moore often uses fictional events to tie everything together, but never straying from actual historical facts.

Now, on to the fiction. Doctor Frankenstein, his created monster and the bride of Frankenstein are all important figures. The driving force throughout the book is the bride of Frankenstein. Klimt finds her, without any memory and names her Judith. And the story rolls from there with fact and fiction intertwining.

I highly recommend reading this novel, and others by Christopher Moore.

Just finishing this I am now re-reading Sacre Bleu. I’ll let you know how this goes in a few weeks.

More later…
