This is the day that we went up the Dempster Highway to Kilometer-159

This highway is a beautiful gravel road through boreal forest.

We found a pair of American Dippers collecting nesting material.

We found several caribou with collars.

We also had great looks at moose.

Susan making sure that we were on the right road, although it was the only road.

Tom out with a Willow Ptarmigan, making sure that we all had a good look.

We all had great looks at Willow Ptarmigan.

Smith’s Longspur up close and personal.

Peregrine Falcon near an old Gyrfalcon nest.

A pair of Halrequin Ducks.

Male Harlequin Duck on the river.
Unfortunately all day and into the night I was getting more feverish and coughing more.
More tomorrow…
Wow, the North country is another world. To see moose and caribou and willow ptarmigans is heavenly! Thank you for sharing the photos and story of the boreal, Mary Ann Hitt
