Traveling in the South – packing to leave Dauphin Island

It’s a busy morning as we are getting ready to head slightly north where for two days we will have no internet service. So here are a few drawings of mostly birds from the trip.

Winter Wren and Bald Cyprus – typically how the trip starts, and sometimes ends.

Usually these two bright warblers (Hooded on the left and Yellow-throated on the right) dominate what we see on or near Dauphin Island. That wasn’t the case this year. You just never know what’s around.

Brown-headed Nuthatch, which we had quite a few of this year, and Worm-eating Warbler which we had a few of this year.

Palm Warbler was common as usual.

Prairie Warblers were more abundant than usual.

And finally an Americal Oystercatcher and a Black-and-white Warbler.

More in a few days…
