Our day started with an amazing sunrise. This is the view from Ken and Patsy’s front porch where I sat watching Fish Crows and White Ibises leave their nocturnal roosts. It was hard leaving but we were headed to Roger and Dawn’s for the next few days.

On the way to Roger and Dawn’s we stopped at the Spruce Creek Preserve. Here we saw some new plants for the trip as well as having great experiences with Yellow-throated Warblers.

The boardwalk to the Spruce Creek River where we always hear Clapper Rails.

The view from the other observation deck.
I highly recommend visiting this preserve if for nothing else the scenery is great and the plants and birds are interesting.

Well it was time for lunch! We stopped at The Taco Shack where I had their three pork tack special ($7) with yucca fries. Susan had fish tacos. We were both quite pleased, especially since it’s been a few years since we had eaten here.

An interesting sticker on the railing to the window where we ordered food.

The Taco Shack sticker. After lunch we headed over to Roger and Dawn’s for a wonderful afternoon and evening.

Now that we’re back near the ocean it was time for a pre-dinner walk, which was a delightful way to end the day.
More tomorrow…
