We spent yesterday on a wonderful trail that was once the road from Deland to Deytona. The center of the trail is red brick. Our friends Patsy and Ken introduced us to this site last year and we all went again this year. It wasn’t very birdy, but I did see two Swallow-tailed Kites which is always nice.

I like anoles especially Green anoles which are native, unlike the Brown anoles.

This was our first carnivorous plant of the trip, Inflated bladderwort which is aquatic.

There was a never ending supply of lichens. These we on a small twig that had six species of lichens and a small Tillandsia. The lichen on the left is scrpit lichen, and the right lichen is small button lichen.

Thes blood-spot lichens were also on the same twig.

We had numerous groups of 40-60 early instars of eastern lubber grasshoppers.

The real exciting find was when Patsy spotted an egg case of a Grizzled mantis.
