These sketches represent where we ate and some of the birds that we saw over our past two visits to Chippewa County in the past month.

In late January we had a small flock of Pine Grosbeaks. While in most years these are quite common for some reason they’re pretty unusual this year.

With any luck Sharp-tailed Grouse can be pretty easy to find. This year, so far they are somewhat hit-or-miss.

I highly recommend having breakfast and/or lunch at Penny’s Kitchen if you are in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. Food is excellent and reasonably priced.
