Denying that Climate Change is not occurring is not the smartest thing that any person can say. It’s been quite obvious for a very long time. In the past year there have been tremendous flooding events, hurricanes and wildfires among other things. Additionally, as the climate warms tropical diseases are spreading northward. The argument has been made, with good evidence that the recent SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome; COVID)pandemics and MERS (Middle East Respiratory Syndrome) are both the result of climate change having effects on animals and their associated viruses. But let’s look further back in time.
In the late 1890s Turkey Vultures were spreading north. It wasn’t until 1900 that the first vultures nested in Canada where today there are hundreds of thousands, if not millions of pairs. In the past few years Black Vultures have been seen further north than in the past.
Going back into the mid 1800s Northern Cardinals move north into Michigan. And they followed Mourning Doves. Now Blue Grosbeaks are spreading north and are not only found in Michigan but now nesting in Washtenaw County, Michigan.
The same can be said for plants and insects.
Global Climate Change is a fact and has been occurring since the Industrial Revolution. Factories and heating, driven by coal lead to the start of the problem. And now the big drive is the use of petroleum and the carbon dioxide that is produced. But we all love traveling and our various vehicles. So what’s the solution.
Currently there is a big movement to creating more solar panels and creating more energy using them. Additionally, the use of hybrid and electric vehicles is also helping. But things have to happen more quickly. I guess that we’ll see what happens in the next 30-40 years.

Well, the Pandemic Doctor is now back home with his homies. As he settles back into a “normal” life he wonders how things will change in the future. With mutations in both SARS and influenza, especially “bird flu,” and the upswing in the pneumonia virus spreading in China (remember that’s where both SARS pandemics began) it makes you wonder what will happen in the future. Every year we get our COVID and Flu shots, as well as using masks when we travel and are feeling ill.
Somehow, as I get older these issues are all more important.

Speaking of getting older, I really like this tee-shirt. Parts of me feel young, while others feel like shipping and handling.”
