Today is a big travel day for us. We’re flying to Seattle, then on to Eugene. It’ll be around 11 PM EST when we finally get to our place which is near the Holiday Market. We’ll be there for two nights allowing us time to adjust to the time difference and do a little shopping. Then we’ll be heading over to Alexis’ for the rest of our time in Eugene.

It was always interesting to my entomology students to hear that male mantises mated vigorously after the female ate his head. What was lest exciting was that the female then ate the rest of the male after mating. Makes you want to rethink the dinner and a date idea.

Christmas is one of the most festive times of the year, although I am also rather taken with Halloween and the Mexican celebration of El dia de los muertos. Regardless, we have decorated our place for Christmas and are looking forward to seeing what Alexis and the kids have done.

Oh BC and the ants. We’ll we all need Santa.

And for the people who don’t eat meat.
More later from Oregon…
